I had just clicked submit and before I knew it, I was registered. It was a little exciting, scary and also a moment of I-can’t-believe-I-just-did-that. I had stumbled across this conference online one day during one of my “holy restlessness” moments (for more on that, click here). It’s a conference called She Speaks hosted by Proverbs 31 Ministries and is designed to?encourage and equip women who are called by God to share His message to women through speaking and writing. This was me.
As I signed up, everything just came together so nicely. Registration went smoothly, my plane ticket was ridiculously cheap, I learned of a friend who was going to be attending, those were all moments of confirmation for me to attend this conference.
Now I’m 12 days away from She Speaks and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve heard from many women that it is an incredible conference and have heard so many stories about how God has shown up and changed lives. I’m so anxious to see how God is going to move.
Because the conference focuses on equipping up-and-coming communicators, they offer two tracks during the conference – writers and speakers. Signing up for the Speakers Track, I also had the chance to register for something called a Speaker Evaluation Group. This is an opportunity to complete two very short messages and be critiqued on them by other women and a P31 professional speaker. I’m anxious to begin honing my skills!
As I mentioned earlier, I found out that a friend I knew (our husbands actually worked together a few years back) would be attending also. She asked me if we could begin partnering with each other in prayer and it has been such a blessing to me! In an accidental way, for me she’s actually become a bit of an accountability partner – to make sure I’m praying, to finish my messages, and to help me get spiritually prepared for the conference. She has been an unexpected blessing, but one of which I have no doubt that God orchestrated. (She’ll be attending for the Writers Track and has an incredible story! So 12 more days and it’s wheels up to North Carolina! I’ll be sure to report back with all the incredible things God will do and how He will move in my life and the lives of 649 other women!
